pastor head shotEric L. Alexander serves as the senior pastor at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Located in the community of Rixey, AR, St. Luke was established in 1873 and has a rich heritage of faith.

Born April 27, 1974, Pastor Alexander has lived in several states; however, he was raised primarily in the North Little Rock area. Before his call to the pastorate; music and teaching were the focal points of his ministry. His pastoral journey began when he accepted the call to ministry in August 1992. He preached his first sermon on the third Sunday in October 1992 at New Hope Baptist Church, North Little Rock, AR. Pastor Alexander was ordained in June 1993 under the leadership of Pastor E. D. Lairry. He then served three years as Assistant Pastor at Zion Wheel Baptist Church where his father, Reverend Edward Alexander was the pastor.

Pastor Alexander was called to pastor the one hundred member body at St. Luke on March 26, 1997. Under his leadership, to accommodate projected growth, St. Luke purchased eighteen acres of land in November 1997. Construction began on this land in March 2000. This endeavor, known as "Project Land", evolved into a 20,000 square feet worship center; seating six hundred. The first service in the new edifice was Sunday, September 30, 2001. The existing structure was remodeled to adapt to the ever increasing youth membership.

While the membership continued to grow, Pastor Alexander's vision led the church to the acquisition of an additional thirty-four acres of land in November 2005. On Sunday, April 1, 2007, a ground-breaking ceremony was held for a new 40,000 square feet worship center. The construction and building of this project completed in November 2008, increasing the sanctuary seating to fifteen hundred, and the addition of increased nursery and classroom capacity. The former worship center was renamed Cross Point Community Development Corporation. Future plans include the development of a Family Life Center, and the necessary facilities to minister to our surrounding community.

With the aspiration of ministering to the total man, God's favor on his vision and passion, has allowed St. Luke to experience an increase in membership exceeding 1800, a staff increase to 20, service ministries to 49 and an increase in the ministerial and deacon’s care staff. St. Luke currently serves the North Little Rock, Jacksonville and the surrounding areas with two Sunday morning worship services and Christian Life Development, as well as Wednesday Bible Study at noon and a Wednesday evening worship service.

An anointed man of God, Pastor Alexander is often the guest evangelist at revivals and conferences throughout Arkansas and the United States. Along with expanding locally, Pastor Alexander's vision is to impact the world by continuing to develop programs that support foreign mission and ongoing national evangelism with the purpose of "Empowering People to Live a Life of Victory".

Pastor Alexander is the proud parent of two children, Dashyra Shantrez and Eric Hinton. In his spare time, he enjoys horses and bowling.

St. Luke's History PDF Print E-mail

In the spring of 1873, the St. Luke Baptist Church was organized; Seven persons assembled themselves together on a site known as Possum Hollow, one fourth mile north of this present site. When the church was in its early development phase, services were held under a brush harbor. Being lead by the Holy Spirit, the congregation moved to the present site and built a small log cabin measuring 14’ X 16’. Shortly after relocating, the church elected its first pastor, Rev. Reese Finnall. The length of his service is not known.  Other pastors who followed were Elder Tom Smith, Elder C.C. Inard, Elder Henry Gray, and Elder J.C. Boyd. Elder Boyd served faithfully for fifty-one (51) years. Under his leadership the log cabin was converted into a frame building 18’ x 35’.  For an African American church, this structure was considered a modern building.
